Make your own Salt dough
Basic Salt Dough
- 8oz flour
- 4oz salt
- 6 fl oz of lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp wallpaper paste
- 1 tbsp veg oil
|
Alternate Dough
- 8oz flour
- 4oz salt
- half pint water
- 1 tbsp veg oil
|
- The use of the oil and the wall paper paste help bind the dough
together better, but the paste can be omitted with no ill effect.
- Mix all the ingredients together and knead for 10 minutes. Once
dough is mixed properly, let it rest for 30-60 minutes packed in
plastic or cling film. keep cool until ready for use. bring it out
into the warm an hour before you want to use it.
- Once modeled, bake it in an oven using one of the methods below:
- Option One - start in an oven at 75 - 90c for one or two hours,
then increase to 100c for another hour, and then increase to 125c
for and hour then increase to 150c carefully check the figure
doesn't get burnt. the reason for the gradual rise is that it
prevents the dough from rising and causing bubbles to burst through
your figure
- Option Two - Bake for two to three hours at 110 - 120c this is
better for smaller figures that are not prone to bubble or expand.
