How to make an environmentally friendly
slug killing machine.
Here is a really simple beer slug trap that costs next to
nothing to make and saves you having to but one at over £5 each on some
garden sites
Parts List
Two small kids yogurt pots
Strawberry or similar soft fruit box
Building The Trap
Firstly make sure that the yogurt pots you have will fit
inside the fruit box. Mine were a little high so a trimmed off part of the
pot with some sharp scissors.
Near the corners of the fruit box you should find that some
really helpful vents have been moulded in the box. Cut across these so that
the corners are holes big enough for a slug to get into.
Attach the yogurt pots to the base of the box. I found a hot
glue gun perfect. You could leave the pots lose but if the trap gets knocked
then the pots may tip over.
Now just add the top of the fruit box as a rain cover and
it's finished. Just add beer and if necessary a rock on the top to stop it
blowing away.
